The Capitalist War Against American Workers

There is a mass movement in the working class . . . largely stirred by the severe acts of Donald Trump and his gang of thugs in the House and Senate . . . to fight against suppression. Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders is among the spokesmen for this movement, but he does not seem to be getting party members to follow his lead.
The Democratic Party seems to be locked in limbo just now, without any new ideas and without any outstanding leadership. If Sanders isn’t their guy, then who is?
The Trump Administration appears content issuing statistics showing that investors in the stock market are making big profits and more people are working now than they were during the darkest days of the recent recession. But these numbers are misleading.
The profits are being enjoyed by the investors who are wealthy enough to put their money into the market. And workers are on the job, all right, but most are struggling because they receive minimum wages on part-time jobs that offer no benefits. Thus they slave away without looking forward to paid vacation time, sick leave, or health insurance benefits, and struggling to meet rising rent and food costs with what little money they can bring home.
This is a sign of mass slavery. But the propaganda pumped into worker’s heads via their nightly television news and the constant advertising blitz keeps workers confused. They still think there is a chance to someday hit the mother-load . . . perhaps with that weekly lottery ticket or getting promoted to a full-time position, and crawling out of the mess they are living in.
Guess what. For most American workers today, that is not going to happen. And more and more workers are seeing the writing on the wall. They know they are getting screwed. But they are confused as to just who their enemy is. A lot of them are still looking to Trump to keep his promises and change the system. Something Trump has already demonstrated he is not willing to do.
In fact, Mr. Trump and his gang of cutthroats have moved quickly since coming to power to bring more alligators into the Washington swamp, slash benefits for the working and unemployed poor, and start dismantling all of the socialist-styled programs put in place over the years to help workers, unemployed, sick and the elderly. Analysts are calling the actions cold-hearted and indeed they are.
What we are looking at is a complete take-over of our government by the extreme “right-wing” Republicans who are the paid representatives of big business, big banksters and wall street investors. If you take away their disguises, we find that the exposed enemy is the capitalist system, which has been in power in this country since its origins.
Now that the war against the middle and lower class has been clearly declared by the capitalists, it is time for the enemy to be defined, and the workers joined in unity to stand against it. Mr. Sanders might do well to abandon his Democratic Party pals and join another movement that is being known all over the world now as Globalization.
Globalization is a newly created and perhaps more acceptable name for a socialist movement that should be more palatable among workers. For years they have been taught how evil socialism is, but all the while they were enjoying the benefits of a well-placed socialist system deeply embedded in the American culture.
If you think about it, the public school system, the U.S. Postal Service, Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps and all of the assistance programs for unwed and poor mothers, were socialist -styled programs. They were paid by tax dollars for the benefit of the whole. Cities conducted successful street and sidewalk paving programs, construction of new water and sewer lines, and built new schools through taxes paid by property owners. This is all a form of socialism that worked very well.
Notice that Trump and his friends want to strip it all. Even our public school system is under attack. Nothing is being done to repair out decaying roads, bridges and electric lines. The middle and lower class workers are being taxed while the wealthy are suddenly benefiting from tax exemption.
The normal way to fix this imbalance would be at the polls when midterm elections roll around. But look what the crooks in Washington are doing to make sure the working class voters are stripped of their voting rights.
The House Appropriations Committee has voted to defund the Election Assistance Commission, a federal agency that makes sure state voting machines are operating fairly and not "rigged." The Department of Justice is demanding that all states turn over detailed voting lists which include private information like social security numbers in a move to “trim voting rolls.” Targeted among the voters will be people who have been arrested on felony charges, suspected illegal immigrants and minorities unable to produce proper voter identification documents when they show up at the polls.
So while a growing number of discontented workers are quietly organizing to fight for better working conditions and wages, their bosses are among the capitalists who are quietly working to keep them suppressed. Republican legislators in some states have succeeded in lowering the minimum wage, and there is a national movement to rescind the National Healthcare Act. If they aren’t stopped, conditions for the working class could get much worse before the scavenging is over.
