Prophecy Of The Last Pope
By James Donahue
Someone sent me a link to a story by author Jack Manuelian, taken from segments of his book: “Nostradamus: Predictions of World War III.”
Within the pages of the book are examinations of verses that Manuelian believes are predictions of the fall of the Roman Catholic Church.
It was during the time of Pope John II that Manuelian said he believed the verses counted only two more popes to hold office over the church. The first would be an elderly man known as a peacemaker.
The church would then come under the rein of the next and final pope, who will sit “in biting activity,” according to a Nostradamus verse.
It is interesting to note that after Pope John Paul's death in 2005 he was succeeded by a German priest, Pope Benedict XVI who remained a strict enforcer of old Catholic canon. Perhaps because this was proving unpopular among the young Catholics in a changing world, Benedict became the first Pope to abdicate his position in about 600 years. While he still lives at the Vatican, Benedict has been succeeded by an Argentinian Jesuit, Pope Francis who has brought dynamic changes to church doctrine. He also is reaching out to people of all faiths and appears to be filling the role of peacemaker, as described by Nostradamus.
We might also compare the Manuelian interpretations of Nostradamus with the prophecies by Irish Bishop St. Malachy and contemporary authors Tom Horn and Cris Putnam, who have been making relatively accurate predictions about future events involving the Vatican.
For instance, Horn and Putnam, in their book Petrus Romanus, predicted Pope Benedict’s abdication of the Papacy a year before it happened.
Also there is a legend that St. Malachy, who lived from 1094 to 1148, predicted the final 112 Popes and that the final pope would be known as Peter the Roman.
It was said the Malachy’s prophecy read: “Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when things are finished, the city of seven hills (Rome) will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people.”
Consequently, there is a belief among many that the Vatican will no longer exist after this Pope falls. This suggests a final world conflict or some other disaster is about to destroy the City of Rome and the heart of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Catholic Church, however, claims that no such prophecy was ever made by Malachy. Instead, it was a manufactured prediction by a Benedictine monk named Arnold Woin in a book titled Lignum Vitae. And they say events are not going to happen this way.
The Manuelian material however, does predict a great war that has a lot to do with destroying the church. In fact, a good portion of the Vatican may be destroyed by fire. Either this or the mere threat of war will force the pontiff to flee to France and set up operations there, he wrote.
Manuelian quotes and paraphrases a verse from among the Nostradamus quatrains that reads: “In a short time the physician of great evil and the leech of unequal order (an evil person working behind the scenes) will put the Olive Branch (the final pope) on fire. The post of the pope will be moved from one coast to another, and by so great fire their empire will be accosted that the heat will evaporate the saliva in the mouth.”
There is a conflicting image, however, in yet another of the Nostradamus prophecies. Manuelian notes that in Century II, Quatrain 57, the verse suggests that the next pope will die early, and that the final pope will reign in the midst of war.
This verse and the writer’s insertions for clarification reads: “Before the conflict the great wall will fall. The great one will die a hasty and lamented death. (The final pope) will navigate the see close to the river (while) the earth will be tainted with (the) blood (of war).”
Yet another verse, quatrain 46, Century VIII, gives some more interesting insight: “Paul Mensole (Pope John Paul) will die. At three leagues from Rosne his two immediate successors are put to flight by the dragon (monster of Tarascon). For the horrible reigning Mars (war) will make of itself, of the cock (the final pope), and of the eagle (penultimate pope) three allies.”
The Manuelian inserts for this final verse are obviously his personal interpretation of the verse. He does not explain how the fabled French dragon, Tarasque, which was supposedly tamed by St. Martha at Tarascon, France, in 48 AD, has anything to do with chasing the final two popes out of the Vatican.
That the retired Pope Benedict still lives at the Vatican while Pope Francis reigns creates an interesting situation in which we actually have two popes in Rome at the same time.
Perhaps this monster is a reference to the Devil, a mythical character believed by Christians to be the ruler of the Earth, and the generator of war.
Another factor is a growing world unrest that threatens conflicts that could easily escalate into a world war. Russia, Greece and Turkey have been in conflict. The entire Middle East is in turmoil over Israeli and U.S. interventions. North Korea has been rattling sabers and China and Japan have been in disagreement over an artificial island that China appears to be building in the Pacific shipping lanes.
A Greek monk known only as Joseph claims to have been given visions by angels of a Third World War that will break out soon. This war, he warns, will be a conflict between Turkey and Greece that quickly escalates into a nuclear war involving both Russia and the United States.
Russia will join the Greeks and the United States and European Union will join Turkey and declare global war against Russia and Greece. Also the Vatican and Holy Chair will declare "Holy War" against "schismatic Orthodoxy,' according to Joseph.
The war will destroy the power of both the Roman Catholic Church and the United States, the prophecy concludes.
